This is the blog of an informal group of dedicated knitters in Stockholm, Sweden. Here we will share our ups and downs, purls and knits with you.
We meet every Tuesday at Hurtigs Konditori at Drottninggatan 90. There's usually someone there from around 5 pm, and we normally hang around until they close at 9 pm.
Everyone's welcome to knit with us!

Another post from Sthlm Knitters, yay!

sthlm knitters tonight

knitting at ginos

We had a knitter from Sydney visiting us yesterday. It was so fun to meet her, Elaine - you can read about her here. It's always fun to meet new knitters from all over the world so If you are coming to town and have time over to knit, let us know - we love to meet you! And it's doesn't matter if you are from Härnösand, Oslo or New York. You are all welcome to knit with us!

we haven't disappeared!

Oh, gloriuos spring! Who wants to sit cooped up at home when the air is warm and the sun is shining? Not the STHLM knitters, that's for sure! We still meet on Tuesdays at Ginoscoffee, so pick up those sticks and come join us for some knitting and perhaps a nice cinnamon roll or a tasty blueberry pie.

Here are some photos from yesterday's get together:

satoko
Satoko knitting a shawl in "Kalinka" a flax yarn. Please notice
Satokos gorgeous jumper, it's the "Union Square Market
Pullover" from Interweave Knits Autumn 2005.

Here we have some shawl knitting going on! It's not very
easy to see it in this photo, but I can assure you it is very pretty!

anna & katarina
Anna and Katarina. Something is obviously very funny. Anna was knitting an extremely cute baby cardigan that you unfortunately can't see in this photo.
Katarina is knitting a top in Rowan's Bamboo Tape yarn.

Jenny with her cutie-pie daughter. The dress is handknitted, of course!

Here's Satoko again with Anna's daughter. She is also wearing
a handknitted garment. Isn't that cardigan just adorable?

on the radio

We're on the radio! Sveriges Radio's (Swedish Radio) Stockholm channel, P5, have a series on "10 resons to love Stockholm" and we were inteviewed before Christmas. It was aired today, and you can listen to it on the internet starting today and for another 30 days. It's in Swedish, of course, but if you want to listen to it, you can find it HERE. Scroll down and click on the link that says: "12:30-13:00 Onsdag 3 januari". You have to "fast forward" about 13 minutes before the interview starts.

christmas feeling..?

Snow has been depressingly scarce in Stockholm this winter, but yesterday afternoon brought some hope! Huge, fat flakes slowly drifting to the ground. A real Snow Day! However, temperature is up today and the sun is out, so any lingering snow has now melted away.

But we had a lovely time at Ginoscoffe yesterday anyway! We were visited by a journalist from Radio Stockholm who is doing a series on odd and unknown occurrences in Stockholm. We are neither odd nor unknown (known due to last year's media coverage), but do not mind spreading the Good Word, so to speak, on knitting to those poor souls not yet saved!

The interview will be broadcast about a week after Christmas, and we'll try to link to it once it's available on the Radio Stockholm website.

Well, Christmas is soon upon us, and we'll leave you with some photos from yesterday along with a wish:

Have a Very Knitty Christmas and a Crafty New Year!

Here we all are:

See you next year!

finally

Finally, an entry from the Sthlm Knitters. Yes, we are still out here. Knitting at Gino's every Tuesday. But this autumn has been filled with lot of work for many of us. Work, school, kids and family stuff has taken time. Today we were 3 happy knitters at Gino's, talking and knitting and had lot of fun. Will I see YOU at Gino's next week? I will be there!

Anna was knitting on a hat and a blanket for her unborn baby. Jenie was knitting on a scarf for a family member and Catrin was knitting on a Christmas present.

See you next week!

photos from the festival

So there we were, sitting and knitting in a tent in Kungsträdgården on the Stockholm Cultural Festival... All went well, I think! I did get to learn one girl how to knit and there were many people interested in what we were doing. A nice evening alltogether!

If you want to see some photos, you can find them HERE.

I just have to show you this cute photo of Erika from when we met up at Lasse i Parken a couple of weeks ago:

Erika just found out that she has been accepted to the two year programme of handicrafts at the HV-school! Congratulations!

STHLM knitters on display

On Wednesday, August 16th, STHLM Knitters will partake in a new event here in Stockholm: STOCKHOLM CULTURAL FESTIVAL (click on link).

We will knit, knit, knit in the Art Tent in Kungsträdgården from 6 pm to 9 pm. Bring your pointy sticks and some yarn and join us!

Program to the festival is available HERE.

......................................................................................................................................

Yesterday, Erika invited STHLM knitters and SnB Stockholm to a quiet afternoon of knitting at Lasse i Parken. The rain was pouring down and we took refuge under the large roof while listening to some nice live jazz and gorging ourselves with homemade pie and large quanteties of tea...

ordinary tuesday

It's summer but Sthlm knitters still have meetings every Tuesday at Ginos coffee. We are discussing whether or not to participate in the Wateraid campaign that "I Knit London" started. You knit a 15x15 cm square and all squares are sewn toghether to form a great knitted river through London with a message about clean water. We might be able to make a public campaign in August.

This Tuesday evening it was a group of about 10 women who was there. Here are some picture's.
